Baptismal Font - Butrint, Albania

From Butrint's time as a bishopric dates this rare total-immersion baptismal font. It is set in a circular building decorated with columns and mosaics. It dates to the middle of the 6th century AD.

Butrint is a UNESCO World Heritage site, with building remains dating back to the Greeks. Inhabitation is dating back further than that though, probably to prehistoric times. It sits in a beautiful National Park about 20km from Sarande and boasts remains of Romans, Venetians, Byzantine times, Crusaders and a Christian bishopric.
