Roman baths - Butrint, Albania

Description

Remains of a Roman bath in Butrint, Albania. Very demonstartive of the hypocaust system used to heat the floor and with that, the bath water.

Butrint is a UNESCO World Heritage site, with building remains dating back to the Greeks. Inhabitation is dating back further than that though, probably to prehistoric times. It sits in a beautiful National Park about 20km from Sarande and boasts remains of Romans, Venetians, Byzantine times, Crusaders and a Christian bishopric.
